Sunday Thoughts

Sunday, 21 February 2016

Good evening all! I've just woken up from an accidental nap (sorry not sorry) and feel like I should probably catch you all up on the last seven days. I am tip tapping out this post slightly later than usual this week as my day has been full to the brim! My entire weekend has, truth be told, but is has been a fabulous few days.

For Jack's 21st birthday, his mum and dad came to visit us both in Manchester. They arrived yesterday afternoon and had kindly arranged for us to spend the night in the hotel along with themselves. That meant waking up this morning in an extremely comfortable bed and indulging in a big breakfast! The four of us enjoyed a beautiful meal at San Carlos last night, an incredible Italian restaurant in Manchester city centre. It was such a lovely evening spent in wonderful company. Jack and his dad headed off to watch the football this afternoon and so his mum and I decided to have a wander around Manchester's shops. We then settled down for lunch at Bills before heading back to Jack's flat for a much needed cup of tea.

Jack's birthday itself was on Friday and we had the most lovely day of celebration. Too excited to wait, we both decided that he should open his presents the night before, and he was not disappointed! I bought him a beautiful world globe (which I thought was in Latin, but actually turns out to be in Italian... oops) which he fell in love with instantly, along with a traditional wooden chess board, a dominoes styled map card game, and a Led Zeppelin vinyl in a frame. I was over the moon by how much he loved all of his presents and we both woke up on his birthday in the most brilliant mood. I cooked him a big fry up in the morning before we headed out for afternoon cake in the Northern Quarter. We then zoomed off to see Deadpool in IMAX. Although we both thoroughly enjoyed the film and loved its sense of humour, the only word that we could both use to describe the film was 'strange'. Has anyone seen Deadpool yet? What did you think? We then had a lovely Vietnamese meal at Pho and headed home fully bloated, with huge grins on our faces.

Otherwise, my week has been pretty normal. A lot of work, a lot of running, and a lot of sleep. Now that all of the celebrations are over, both of us are going to crack on with working towards all of our upcoming deadlines. How has your week been? Has your weekend been as fab as mine? Tell me all of your stories!
